#otpOne of my favorites. Because look at that faaaace. This kid is still young you guize, he’s like 17, 18 tops (do you see him driving before R? I forget). And he’s embarrassed as FUCK Usagi caught him on the kiddie train because now he’ll never live it down (he’s supposed to rag on her, not the other way around).
OMG BBBOY you are so ridiculous and adorable and you try to hide it behind this facade of sardonic, coffee drinking, college ‘be-quiet-I’m-reading-Sartre’ type of thing but omg you total goofball I love you to pieces.
Seriously though, this moment is priceless. Especially because it shows that Mamoru wasn’t the only one who teased Usagi. It was vice versa too! haha
But on a whole other level, I really think that this scene with him wasn’t just a random funny scene that we all like. I swear, I think Mamoru woke up that morning saying to himself that SOMEONE used to take him to a train ride as a child. I don’t know who that person IS, but maybe it was his Mom or Dad? Remember he doesn’t know absolutely everything about his family, and one thing Mamoru is good at is having erratic flashes of memories in his thoughts and dreams.
Maybe he rode the train that day because it made him feel nostalgic. No matter how ridiculous he looked as an 18 year old in a forest green jacket, maybe it was just something he thought would get the memory of his family back. Maybe it’s because he didn’t have a chance to do these kiddie things as an orphan.
I don’t know. That’s always been my headcanon for it.
As you can see I think about Mamoru a lot because I love him and his non-boring characteristics because he isn’t boring kthanks.
Friends like these are worth so much.
One thing I will always have to give the anime is that they spent more time on Usagi’s friendships with the other Sailor Senshi (given that they had a lot more time to do so, versus the manga, which was already pretty densely packed) so when these scenes came along, they were even more heartbreaking.
You felt her friendships with these girls, you had grown fond of them yourself because of the extra time spent on their characters. You understood why Usagi’s friends were so incredibly precious to her.
My favorite graphics in the fandom are the ones that remind me of those feelings and this one is no exception! I can’t look at it without going OMG DARLINGS LET ME MAKE IT ALL BETTER FOR YOU. T__T
